Seedling Punnets & Raising Trays

If there’s one thing you can never get enough of when gardening, it’s seed trays. Although such a simple product, they’re incredibly useful for growing your plants and flowers before moving and planting them in your garden.

All of the trays and pots in our product range are made from high-quality materials (to prevent them from being easily damaged when they’re moved around) and are very affordable. Keeping in mind that all gardeners need a supply of these, make sure your next order from Sage Horticultural includes some seedling trays.

Give Your Seeds a Head Start with our Seed Trays

Most people are familiar with the standard plastic trays, but this isn’t the only type available. In fact, there are quite a few other options.

Plastic Trays: These trays are suited to hold as many as 84 seeds, make it easy to nourish those seeds, and some trays come with a plastic lid for additional humidity and protection. Generally, each “cell” has a hole to drain excess liquids and prevent drowning your seeds.

Biodegradable Pots:Biodegradable trays can be purchased, although the singular alternative is more convenient in some cases. After you plant your seeds in the pot and they’re ready to be moved into your garden, you don’t have to remove the pot.

With a plastic tray, each seedling must be carefully removed from the tray and planted. This leaves the risk of damaging the seeds and can also be messy, whereas a biodegradable pot removes these things altogether.

Jiffy Peat Trays:Another biodegradable option is Jiffy Peat Trays. An affordable and environmentally friendly option, they are available in packs of ten.

Seed Trays or Pots?

Most of the time it is more convenient to use a seed raising trays over pots. This is simply due to how easy it is to move a single tray of planted seeds than it is to carry multiple pots – not to mention how much easier it is to store a tray than it is twenty or so pots!

That said, if you’re hoping to use biodegradable products, then you won’t have as many seedling punnets trays options.

Don’t worry though; there are also biodegradable trays available. You will, however, likely find yourself cutting the individual cells off of the tray when the seedlings are ready to be moved elsewhere and planted.
